Thanks again for visiting The Dragon Hut!
We are a family run business located near beautiful Austin, Texas. We consider ourselves hobbyist breeders of Bearded Dragons and Rankin's Dragons.
Our daughter was the first in our family to want a reptile as a pet. After caring for anoles, geckos, and collards, she was ready for something a little bit bigger. The only problem was that we weren't so ready. One day she held a rather large Bearded Dragon at a local pet store and I said, "No way are you getting that!" A few months later there was a guy looking for a home for his Bearded Dragon and she talked us into it.
We brought home Izzy and took great care of her. We read everything we could get our hands on and took her to the vet because she didn't seem to be feeling so well. Once she was done all her lab tests and medicines we were totally in love with her and hooked. She had a spunky little personality and we knew we wanted to get another dragon.
Before we knew it, we had 3 dragons and then 5 and then 8... Soon I found myself thinking, "If only I could do something with Bearded Dragons for the rest of my life..." I was definitely addicted to these adorable reptiles with their generally easy going nature and individual personalities! Even the ones that were a handful, I found that we could build trust and security in them eventually taming them down with lots of handling, treats, and extra attention.
From there our collection began which included lots of new set-ups and supplies, breeding pairs, eggs, lots of new babies, tons of new research, and so much work. Caring for babies can be very demanding but it is also extremely rewarding to see them grow!
We have also made lots of new friends that are and continue to be very supportive of us and our new venture.
